Winter Holidays: Land Salzburg / Lofer
In winter, skiing and snowboarding are of course in the foreground. On the Loferer Alm at about 1400 metres above sea level, almost 50 kilometres of prepared pistes are available. Ten cable cars and ski lifts take winter holidaymakers to the slopes of Austria’s most beautiful alpine world. In the fun park, ski and board artists can compete on various rails and jumps. The ski schools of the village make young and old fit for adventure on the boards.
For those who prefer it away from the alpine descents, the four-kilometre-long terrain is the perfect place for cross-country skiers. The beautiful panorama of the Alps can also be admired here, the cross-country ski run is classified as easy to moderately difficult.
If you want to experience and enjoy nature even more intensively in winter, you should undertake a guided snowshoe hike. In winter, tobogganists and ice-skaters also find excellent conditions in Lofer and the surrounding area.
One of the popular activities in the cold season is ice climbing in Weißbach near Lofer. At the waterfall or on icy walls you can climb up with ice axes and crampons.
